Mansion to host charity events

Three applications have been approved for using the former Government House for charity functions, Chief Secretary for Administration Anson Chan Fang On-sang said.

Twenty-five applications to hold functions at the mansion had been received. Approvals were granted after balancing public interest and the need for official use.

The three applications approved were all from charitable or public organisations.

Mrs Chan said detailed procedures and criteria for applications were still being drafted.

She said the administration had no plans to open the building to tourists but would consider the suggestion later.
