Balloons, teddy bears, flowers and cards - almost all delivered in triplicate - flooded Queen Mary Hospital yesterday as the Tung dynasty greeted three new arrivals.
All thoughts of 'one country, two systems' were temporarily banished as the Chief Executive concentrated on 'one mother, three babies' after his daughter had triplets.
Audrey Slighton Tung Lieh-yuan gave birth to two boys - Mr Tung's first grandsons - and a girl by Caesarean section early on Wednesday.
Born a month premature, the triplets are her and her husband Eric's first children. Last night, they were in incubators but otherwise healthy.
However, the hospital would give no information on the babies' weights, or their time of birth . . . unlike another set of triplets born at the Queen Mary earlier in the day.
Tung Chee-hwa and his wife Betty rushed to the hospital to see the new arrivals early yesterday and returned again last night with flowers.
