Roberto Dominici, managing director of Joyce, must hold the record for buying the most expensive pair of jogging socks.
At an auction of Christmas stockings held to benefit the Children's Cancer Foundation, where 19 designers - including Rebecca Moses, Badgley Mischka, Clements Ribeiro, Fendi and Hugo Boss - were asked to design Christmas stockings for Joyce, Roberto bid for and got two pairs of socks designed by Giorgio Armani for $7,000.
Joyce Ma, on the other hand bid for and got five stockings which she told me she would stuff with goodies and give as presents to her friends. More than $150,000 was raised at the auction, with the most expensive lot, three black fur-trimmed stockings, going for $15,000 to Jimin Lee.
Joyce Boutiques is planning to make this an annual event.
