Television coverage for nominees for the 1997 Coca-Cola Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards is aimed at boosting public involvement in the voting process.
Four programmes focusing on the 42 individual nominees and 10 nominated teams will be aired on TVB Jade every Sunday from 10.25 am.
The first 30-minute episode, screened last Sunday, highlighted the achievements of Wong Kam-po (cycling), Au Wai-lun (soccer), Chai Po-wa (table tennis) and Rebecca Chiu Wing-yin (squash).
Other programmes will present nominees' backgrounds and major achievements last year.
Irene Lo, corporate communications manager of Swire Coca- Cola, said the shows would give members of the public a better understanding of the athletes before votes were cast.
'The audience can at the same time win marvellous prizes by participating in the quiz at the end of each programme,' she said.
