The mainland invested a record 11 billion yuan last year to upgrade its aviation industry, an official at the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said yesterday. The industry channelled eight billion yuan into airport building and upgrading, and three billion yuan into improving technology, the official said. This year's investments were aimed primarily at boosting safety and efficiency, the China Daily quoted Yao Yabo, a CAAC official, as saying.
