THE Hongkong Flower Show will be in full bloom today when the Governor's wife, Mrs Lavender Patten, officially opens the 10-day event at the Sha Tin Town Hall.

  It will be open to the public today from 2 pm to 9 pm.

  The obvious emphasis will be on the colourful array of flowers and floral displays, but there will be plenty of other activities to keep visitors entertained.

  Some of them include:    A drawing competition for primary and secondary school students tomorrow between 9 am and noon.

   A demonstration of the beautiful Japanese art of Ikebana from 4 pm to 5.30 pm on March 21.

    Concerts on March 20, 21, 27 and 28 by local bands.

   Special talks and demonstrations about Western floral art, dry flowers and fung shui and plants on the same days as above.

  Souvenirs, including a carrying bag and a coaster plus special programmes, will be available.

  Entrance tickets, which are $10 for adults, and $5 for children, students and people over 60, are now on sale at the eight Mass Transit Railway Travel Centres and the two Kowloon Canton Railway Corp (KCRC) Customer Service Centres.

   For the first time, the KCRC is issuing a Flower Show souvenir pack, consisting of a souvenir KCRC ticket and a Flower Show admission ticket.

  The pack, which is on sale at most stations, costs $30.

  From tomorrow until March 22, the public will be admitted between 9 am and 9 pm; from 9 am to 2 pm on March 23; from 2 pm to 9 pm on March 24; and from 9 am to 9 pm between March 25 and 27.
