A policeman fired five shots at a taxi which nearly knocked down a beat constable as it came out of a construction site in Bowen Road shortly before 1.30 am. Officers on anti-burglary and illegal immigration patrol saw the incident and shouted for the car to stop. When it sped off, one of the officers opened fire. Four men were in the taxi, but when it was intercepted, only the driver was inside. The others reportedly escaped down a slope. They were still at large early this morning.
