Baptist University's School of Continuing Education and the American Language Institute of New York University are jointly offering an on- line English-language course for tertiary and secondary students and working adults.
Learning English through the Internet is said to be one of the largest university-based English- as a-second-language programmes in the United States.
It consists of two programmes. Writing English for College is suitable for high school, university and college students mainly focusing on writing techniques and the important points to note for writing assignments.
Writing Business English is suitable for working adults of all ages mainly focusing on different types of business correspondence and writing techniques. Each programme lasts for 12 weeks, covering eight lessons.
'Students do not have to travel but can just stay at home, using their own computer to choose the most convenient time and schedule to take the lessons,' a Baptist University spokesman said.
Students can work to their own pace and standard and also choose to involve and interact more actively with fellow students through the design for collaborative learning.
