An illiterate sex-shop owner was not aware of laws requiring him to cover sex toys in an opaque wrapping. Wong Yat-wah, 26, told Eastern Court he sold sex toys only to adults and did not realise the items had to be sealed. Police searched the International Sex Shop at Shau Kei Wan on December 10 after receiving complaints that numerous sex toys could be seen easily from outside the shop. Sixty-eight unwrapped sex toys, all carrying a warning message, were seized during the raid. Wong pleaded guilty to publishing an indecent article. Magistrate Garry Tallentire said Wong had committed only a minor and technical offence and said he had already been penalised because most of his stock was confiscated. Wong was fined $2,500.
