Pakistan Association A survived a late rally to beat Nav Bharat A 2-1 at King's Park and advance to the third round of the FILA Cup. Pakistan's Tanweer Muhammed and Ishsaq Ullah scored a goal apiece to sink Nav Bharat's hopes in the competition known in past seasons as the Holland Cup. Nav Bharat's Rajinder Singh scored the consolation goal in the battle of the First Division sides. Most First Division clubs advanced to the quarter-finals without too many difficulties. League leaders Shaheen were big winners at King's Park. A week after beating Hong Kong Football Club A 2-1 in an important First Division fixture, the league champions continued their winning ways by thrashing Second Division side Elite A 4-0. Goals from Derek Leung, Swalik Muhammed and Ali brothers Asif and Arif sealed the issue for the league leaders. But Cup holders Hong Kong Football Club A were the biggest winners of the day. The Happy Valley side thrashed Second Division Kowloon Cricket Club B 14-0 on their home ground to provide a measure of solace following their loss to Shaheen last week. The Dutch Association were sponsors of the annual knock-out trophy for the past 20 years. But the Hong Kong Hockey Association decided to switch sponsorship because the Dutch Association were unable to give a definite answer on whether they would continue their long-term commitment.
