A group of prominent Chinese neuroscientists has agreed to establish an organisation to promote academic exchanges and co-operation between the mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The objectives of the Chinese Brain Research Organisation are to foster collaborative research in basic and clinical neuroscience and to facilitate exchange of scientific knowledge and training of high quality scientists.
Scientists decided on the move after taking part in the First Neuroscience Exchange Workshop hosted last month by the New Asia College and the Department of Anatomy of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The workshop aimed to promote scientific interaction and future collaboration between major neuroscience groups from the three places in view of the rapid development in the field of neuroscience.
Participants in the workshop also agreed that a Chinese Neuroscience Forum 1999 will be organised at the Chinese University's New Asia College during the college's 50th anniversary.
