A Japanese businessman was robbed of 185 million yen (about $10 million) minutes after he arrived in the territory. Three men in a car intercepted the 48-year-old man's taxi in San Shan Road, Hunghom, on its way from Kai Tak to a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. Three men wearing woollen balaclavas and armed with a pistol, a knife and a hammer ordered the taxi driver to open the boot and grabbed the businessman's luggage containing the cash. The gang's car stalled prompting them to pull the businessman and the driver out of the taxi which they drove off. It was found in Station Lane, Hunghom.
