Garth Brooks is the biggest-selling solo artist in the history of music in the United States. The country singer has sold more than 62 million units and there is no doubt he is a superstar. Sevens, his highly anticipated new album on the Capitol Nashville label, sold more than four million copies in the US alone in just two months. American music critics predict it will be Brooks' biggest- selling album ever. Twelve of the 14 songs from the set are on America's Hot Country Singles and Tracks Chart. That breaks the previous record of eight tracks set by his 1995 album Fresh Horses. Sevens took more than a year to record, giving Brooks more time to tweak songs and add musical nuances. His seventh studio set is as fine an example of the singer's passion for music - and life itself - as fans could have hoped for. He is clearly an artist in his prime. There is a stimulating diversity on Sevens, which contains myriad sounds, emotions and stories. The first single from the album is Long Neck Bottle. Other outstanding tracks include Two Pina Coladas, the seductive Take the Keys to My Heart and the bluegrass-meets-gospel of Fit for a King. A chart-topping duet with country star Trisha Yearwood, In Another's Eyes, and the big electric-guitar sound of Shameless also stand out. Brooks has enjoyed an amazing career. His 1989 self-titled debut was the biggest-selling country album of the decade. His second outing, No Fences, was the biggest-selling country album of all time. Ropin' the Wind was the third biggest and the first album to debut at No 1 on both the US Top 200 Album Chart and the Country Album Chart. The Chase and In Pieces both entered the pop and country charts at No 1. Along with the sales came awards, including a Grammy, 11 American Music Awards and 10 Country Music Association Awards. He has also lifted 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, five World Music Awards and eight People's Choice Awards, including Favourite Male Musical Performer for the past six years. Brooks was named Artist of the Year at last year's Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. Given the past nine years of such success, his sales statistics are clearly phenomenal. And the numbers to watch this year are Sevens.
