Killer 'thrilled he was only one to know truth'
A killer who dismembered his lover and disposed of her body parts in public places was excited that he was the only person who knew the truth behind the case, a court heard yesterday.
Tommy Leung Wai-chung, 36, admitted killing and dismembering So Sheung-lan, 35, on July 22, 1996, but has denied that he murdered her.
The insurance agent's legs, arms and torso were found in bins and flowerbeds across the New Territories in the days after her death.
Her head is still buried under tonnes of rubbish in a Sha Tau Kok landfill.
Leung maintains he was provoked into killing her.
But prosecutor Robert Forrest said: 'There was a thrill and excitement that he was the only one in Hong Kong who knew what was behind this. If he loved the deceased there is no way in a thousand years he would have subjected the body to those indignities.' Mr Forrest said it was no coincidence Leung had dumped his lover's head in a refuse truck.
Police identified So by her fingerprints. 'If that had not happened the mystery might have lived on forever,' Mr Forrest said.
