The recent cold snap has taken the lives of a number of people.
If the local temperatures were as high as what is officially reported and recorded in the Hong Kong Observatory, a site which is located in the heat of the concrete jungle, we would not feel as cold as we do in many parts of Hong Kong, where it is usually a few degrees lower than the official readings. And I am not just referring to temperatures in the New Territories. The Director of the Hong Kong Observatory should undertake a quick review and find out what is going wrong.
Clearly the observatory is in the wrong location. Even though some may feel sad, because it has been there for a long time, scientific accuracy is more important than nostalgia.
