A political campaign against the President of the United States, a media circus giving credibility to unproven allegations of sexual infidelity and right-wing conspiracies by a 'nutcase faction' of the Republican Party. These words came not from Hillary Rodham Clinton, but from the Peak home of a woman described as a dead ringer for America's First Lady. Francesca Craig, 39, is chairman of Hong Kong's Democrats Abroad and has no trouble defending her political hero President Bill Clinton. A Hong Kong resident of nine years, Ms Craig has been married for 12 years to the group's former chairman, lawyer William Wilson III, and is fully occupied with the couple's four young children. What's on your mind? The circus taking place in Washington right now. Someone seems to have forgotten to tell the press that in the United States you are innocent until proven guilty. The people who gave Kenneth Starr the benefit of the doubt are beginning to wonder how an investigation into an Arkansas land deal - Whitewater - led to a sting operation being mounted against the President of the United States over alleged adultery. The press, in my opinion, is being used by a nutcase faction of the Republican Party. Will the American public stick by its President? People like him, they voted for him even though they may have harboured some suspicion over his personal life. I don't think Americans are as naive as they are purported to be. Are they forgiving - if the allegations are found to be true? Definitely. We went through this with Gennifer Flowers. I thought that was a great sign of maturity for the US. Has the scandal affected membership of Hong Kong's Democrats Abroad? We have over 300 people, we're doing very well (almost double since November last year). We're having a meeting next week and I'm sure we'll be discussing this.
