A new scheme aims to improve communication between the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and its supporters.
The project - Friends of Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra - will be launched next month. The orchestra's Music Director, Yan Huichang, says the scheme will serve as a link between the orchestra and friends.
'It is hoped that in getting together as an interest group, music-lovers will be kept informed of the latest happenings in the world of Chinese music, and get to know more about Chinese music artists.
The scheme will qualify patrons for a 20 per cent discount on all of the orchestra's performances as well as a discount on the purchase of musical instruments, CDs and magazines.
Members will also be invited to special events, such as meet-the-artist sessions and workshops. A newsletter, detailing events and activities will be mailed to members free of charge.
Six-month membership fees vary from $35, for students, to $150, for families. Enrolment forms are available through Urbtix. Call 2853 2620 for details.
