Turner unit opens office in Taipei

Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific Inc has opened a liaison office in Taipei for its advertising sales division and appointed David Chen as regional director of advertising sales, also based in the Taiwanese capital.

Turner distributes the CNN International (CNNI) news service, as well as the TNT & Cartoon Network entertainment channel.

Taiwan is a key pay-TV market with about 75 per cent of the island's 5.5 million households connected to cable TV.

Mr Chen will be responsible for expanding TNT & Cartoon Network's advertising sales in Taiwan. Epoch will continue to handle the advertising sales for CNNI.

Mr Chen joined Turner in Hong Kong in October 1995 as its regional marketing manager for Asia Pacific.
