God ignored

I enjoyed Jonathan Braude's humorously insightful article headlined, 'A prayer for salvation' (South China Morning Post, January 24).

Many a truth is spoken in jest. Perhaps, though, the lesson from Hong Kong's 'plagues' is not the release of oppressed minorities or escape from Hong Kong.

Is it not possible, through the disasters we are experiencing, that God is teaching us that our hope is not in pursuit of material wealth or in the worship of idols, but our hope is in Him? It is perhaps no coincidence that Mr Braude's article was placed next to the church notices.

They remind us that God is to be found in Hong Kong, but far too many people are ignoring Him. Our present circumstances give us cause to think again.
