ONLY weeks after her divorce from tycoon Mr Joseph Lau Leun-hung, of Evergo International, Ms Theresa Po Wing-kam faces painful treatment for cancer.
Ms Po, 40 this year, is said to be in a ''serious condition'' as she undergoes chemotherapy to treat the disease. Friends say she is often too weak to do anything but remain in bed.
The blow follows her split from Mr Lau - who runs Evergo along with his brother Thomas - after 14 years.
P.S. understands Ms Po remains in the plush Jardine's Lookout mansion which was built for the couple, and that Mr Lau has moved into an apartment on The Peak.
Close associates say Ms Po is naturally saddened by the events of the past few months, and has become essentially a recluse, spending most of her time at home, venturing outside only to go to hospital for treatment.
Rumours have circulated for some time that the marriage was in trouble, with Mr Lau, 43, linked to a former Hongkong beauty queen.
In an interview with the Sunday Morning Post Magazine 21/2 years ago, Ms Po obliquely commented on the rumours saying: ''I understand the man we are talking about very well; we've been through a lot together.
