LOOKING after your hair is the first step towards general well being; if your hair is healthy, it is easier to maintain an elegant style. J. F. Lazartigue is considered the ultimate hair-care specialists, with salons in Paris, Singapore, Australia, London, the United States and Hongkong. It provides an extensive range of hair-care products to suit every type of hair condition, from damaged to oily. Lazartigue's hair care products are designed to protect your hair and help restore its natural balance. The main attraction at Lazartigue is a hi-tech computer called a micro-viewer, which carefully analyses hair. An inch of hair is placed under a microscope, which magnifies it 160 times. Manager Ms Josephine Loh said the micro-viewer tells the customer whether his/her hair is really healthy. ''Even people who have very healthy-looking hair get a bit of a shock when they see how damaged their hair looks under the micro-viewer,'' she said. ''The main problem with most women is split ends, oily scalps and dry ends. ''We let people know what condition their hair is in and which group their hair belongs in; weak, oily, normal or dry. We do the diagnosis first, then we recommend the right products.'' Ms Loh said many people damaged their hair through colouring, too-frequent washing and blow-drying. ''People who blow-dry their hair every day do a lot of heat damage. We would recommend a product which retains most of the moisture in the hair, without leaving it completely dry. The product to use for this is a silk protein spray. ''Then we'd recommend a special shampoo to use. The best treatment is carrot oil, for medium to normal hair, shea butter for coarse hair and salmon protein for very fine and dry hair.'' Ms Loh said the major problem for men was hair loss. ''There is a large range of products for hair loss, including the liposome hair energiser. This can reduce the hair loss process and it makes hair grow faster because it contains many natural nutrients,'' she said. ''A big problem for women is fine and dry hair. We recommend a special body-giving shampoo which can give your hair the volume it needs.'' Ms Loh said the majority of Lazartigue's clients were Chinese.
