A MAINLAND chicken which tested positive to H5 when arriving at the border did not have the deadly strain of avian flu, officials said. A routine blood test on the bird - one of a consignment of 1,500 from a farm in Shenzhen which arrived on Friday - indicated it could be a carrier.

The bird was one of 13 chosen at random for testing under procedures introduced since the resumption of live chicken imports.
