Alex Fong Lik-sun broke the Hong Kong 200 metres backstroke record twice in one day at the Epson Swimming World Cup.
The Form Six St Joseph's student first broke Mark Kwok Kin-ming's old mark of 2:05.13 in his morning heat with a time of 2:04.85.
He then showed his outstanding form by breaking the record again in the final held later in the day.
Despite finishing fifth, Alex still set a new time of 2:03.85.
Alex was delighted that he had managed to slice almost four seconds from his previous best in the event.
'I really just couldn't believe it . . . it was just unbelievable. Although I always feel confident, I never expected to make such a big improvement. I will never forget this,' said Alex, who just turned 18.
