A protester who complained he had been subjected to heavy police surveillance has been promised a copy of his sensitive personal file kept by the Security Bureau.

Leung Kwok-hung, a member of the April 5th Action Group, said he had asked the bureau for a copy of his file about a month ago.

'I want to know whether they have infringed on my privacy or not,' he said.

'There have been reports saying that our group has been classified by the police as terrorists and violent and dangerous people. I have the right to know what analysis they have on me as this may cause disturbance to my family and friends,' he said.

Two weeks after his request, Mr Leung received a reply promising he would be given a copy of the file.

'But the reply said it would take some time to process as it was a personal application only,' he said.

The disbanded police special branch kept files on politically sensitive figures. The files are rumoured to still be in police possession.
