JOS Technology will hold its first clearance sale of the year from Thursday to Saturday. But unlike the last sale, held at the China Resources Building in Wan Chai, bargain-hunters will have to trek to the company's warehouse in Kwai Chung. JOS Technology assistant marketing and communications manager Veronica Chiao said the venue had been switched to cut costs. 'We lose money whenever we organise this kind of sales event since on average we sell products at prices lower than cost,' she said. For example, notebooks will be priced from $8,000, desktops from $2,000, cameras from $250, and fax machines from $900. On offer would be the widest range of products yet, said Ms Chiao. 'In addition to computer hardware and software and office automation equipment, you can find telephone systems and even stationery.' All sales items were ageing or refurbished, and buyers could not get normal warranties and were advised to try before buying. Since it was the first time the company had held a sale at its warehouse, Ms Chiao said it was hard to estimate how many customers would attend or how much revenue the sale would generate. 'Frankly, we do worry about how many people will come,' she said. The company plans to arrange a free shuttle bus from the Kwai Fong MTR station and free delivery to compensate for the inconvenient location. Also, everyone who purchases more than $1,000 of products will be entered in a lucky draw, with top prizes including a 3Com PalmPilot and an HP printer. The sale will run each day from 10 am to 7 pm.
