If doing battle in the boardroom isn't enough for corporate bigwig Simon Murray, then running across the Sahara in the Marathon des Sables probably will be.
Murray will lead five other people from Hong Kong in the Marathon of the Sands, one of the toughest in the world. He says he may do one or even two legs of the race depending on his fitness.
'Right now, I don't have time to practise. I am running 6.5 kilometres every day, but to get in shape for this race you need to run at least 16 km. Even by Foreign Legion standards this race is tough,' says the former Foreign Legion member.
The March 29 marathon, which covers 240 km, takes seven days. More than 400 are expected to take part.
It is the first time a team from Hong Kong will participate. It hopes to raise $6 million from corporate and private sponsors for the Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care.
