Form Four pupils learned about leadership and responsibility when they entertained 24 primary school children. The day of fun with a serious message was organised by Hong Kong Union for Young Leaders (HKUYL) as part of its annual Social Service Project. Motivating the exercise was the belief that good leaders know how to love and care for others - qualities HKUYL works hard to instil in youngsters that attend its programmes. This year's project was also aimed at teaching the teenagers how they could serve the community, work as a team and show their creativity. The first stage, at Diocesan Boy's School, was an orientation day. Participants got to know one another through games and during free time. The older students were placed in six groups, each with seven or eight members, with three Form Six group leaders. Guided by the older students, the Form Four pupils prepared a programme of entertainment and education for the primary children. They organised an exciting variety of games, magic tricks, competitions and a drama including French and Japanese words. At the end of the programme, they handed out prizes to their delighted young audience. The students then shared refreshments with their guests during a break, allowing them to talk socially. Capping an afternoon of fun was the photo session, where all those who took part were captured in a group shot. Next comes the highlight of the year, the Hong Kong Youth Leadership Seminar, a four-day camp, where the Form Four students will learn more about becoming responsible teenagers.
