SINCE this column has painstakingly built up a reputation as a fount of useless knowledge, it was only fitting that author George Adams - he of Games Hongkong People Play and Wicked Hongkong Stories - should write to us to inquire why the recent lingerie show at Pacific Place drew such large crowds. ''It seems Hongkong people are into voyeurism,'' frothed Adams. In almost the same heavy breath he added that his next book is titled The Great Hongkong Sex Novel. He lamented: ''Readers always focus on the sexual content of my books even though it is incidental or abstruse - so much so that I have given up hope of interesting people in anything else.'' I sympathise wholeheartedly with Adams, although I have to confess that when a friend loaned me one of Adams' steamy novels he considerately scribbled a note on the flyleaf indicating on which pages the dirty bits could be found.
