St Joseph's Anglo-Chinese School and Tack Ching Girls' Middle School emerged victorious at the Inter-school Athletics Championships, Division II (Kowloon I).

  Thirty-one schools took part in the three-day contest at Wan Chai Sports Ground.

  Competition was particularly keen in the girl's Grade A section.

  New Asia Middle School and NLSI Lui Kwok Pat Fung College shared honours for the title, each with 80 points.

  Tack Ching Girls' Middle School shared third place with Ning Po No 2 College.

  The Tack Ching girls performed well in other grades too. They took the Grade C title and the runners-up spot in Grade B, collecting a total of 188 points to clinch the girls' overall championship.

  St Margaret's Girls' School came second with 134 points and New Asia Middle School third, with 125 points.

  Grade A sprinter Tsoi Chun-yim, of the Mission Covenant Church Holm Glad College, took the 100 metres and 200 m in 13.69 seconds and 28.56 sec respectively.

  Hui Yuen-wai of New Asia Middle School finished second on both occasions.

 In the boys' section, St Joseph's got a second in Grade B and a third in Grade A, and won the overall championship with a total of 186 points.

  Runner-up STFA Seaward Woo College was beaten by a 4.5-point margin. SKH Leung Kwai Yee Secondary School finished third with 171 points.

  However, Seaward Woo sprinters gave a sparkling performance.

  Chiu Chin-chung won gold in the Grade A 100 m with a time of 11.94 sec.

  The Grade A sprinters won the 4 x 100 m relay in 47.04 sec.

  Grade A title-holders Tang King Po took the 4 X 400 m relay in 3.56.34 sec.

  In Kowloon Area II, Wai Kiu College and Kit Sam Secondary School won the boys' and girls' overall championships respectively.
