THE Ritz-Carlton - sitting forlornly in a piece of prime Central real estate encircled by greedy developers casting beady eyes - needs all the help it can get.
So breezing into town to offer a bit of resuscitatory assistance are Alan Leibman and Dennis Clark, general managers of the two Ritz-Carlton establishments in Sydney - although even at full lung-power they'll find their work cut out on this one.
As part of their ''product recognition'' exercise, Messrs Leibman and Clark will be hosting a cocktail reception today - an event referred to (rather churlishly, we thought) by an invitee of our acquaintance as ''a wake''.
At least the occasion will give us the opportunity to note that the Ritz-Carlton does have properties up and flourishing in other parts of the region.
