A new desktop machine combining fax, photocopier, scanner and PC fax/printer will be officially unveiled in Hong Kong next month by the Ricoh distributor, Gilman Office Automation.
Marketing officer Anna Lee said the Aficio FX10 would be targeted at banks, law firms, real estate agencies and other companies which may have small branches or offices and needed to do a lot of faxing, photocopying and printing.
'It looks like a copier but actually it's multi-functional. Some fax machines claim they can handle copy functions but you can't copy a book or magazine on them,' she said.
With the FX10, anything placed on the plate glass can be faxed directly. Transmission is at a high speed which cuts down on costs for international faxes and the fax can be operated while the printer or PC functions are in use.
The PC-related functions include scanning material to a computer, printing from a computer and sending and receiving faxes via computer. The copier has a high resolution so even photographs come out clear.
Documents only have to be scanned once to produce multiple copies. The FX10, which is 23 cm high by 50 cm wide by 45 cm deep, fits easily on a desktop or filing cabinet.
