Ingrid Zhu is one of a new breed of mainland women making a name for themselves in Hong Kong and internationally.
Ingrid was one of three lawyers involved in negotiations for the first four power plant projects since the mainland started its open-door policy nearly 20 years ago.
Her work also extended to some of the early luxury hotels, office buildings, factories and oil plants on the mainland.
Born and raised in Beijing, Ingrid originally wanted to be a film director. However, after becoming interested in law, she was admitted to the prestigious Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing where she received her masters degree in law. She was later awarded two further degrees from the University of Washington in Seattle.
Ingrid also worked for Slade Gorton, a prominent United States senator, helping him formulate trade policy towards China.
Having lived in Hong Kong for the past year, she feels Hong Kong is at the forefront of trade and business.
