The Port of Long Beach has reached an agreement with the United States Navy and preservation groups to pay US$4.5 million if the former Long Beach Naval Station buildings are demolished to make way for a containerised cargo terminal.

Long Beach Heritage has withdrawn its lawsuit challenging the port's environmental impact assessment for the property and will refrain from filing additional lawsuits.
