France's hopes of adding to their Hong Kong Sevens silverware are likely to rest with Grenoble teammates Willy Taofifenua and Franck Corrilhons. France will look to Samoan-born Taofifenua to provide the explosive dynamism, while Corrilhons can be relied upon to provide the flair. Corrilhons is probably one of the quickest men at the tournament. The scrum-half was a member of the French team that gave 1996 Hong Kong Sevens winners New Zealand the fright of their lives two years ago, pushing the Kiwis all the way before eventually succumbing 28-14. In training this week, speed machine Corrilhons was talking down his side's chances. 'I really don't know that we have the ability to go all the way this year,' he said. 'We won the Plate in 1996 and we nearly beat New Zealand during the Pool matches, but there are only four of us left from that side . . . it will be very difficult.'
