Taiwan's queen of pop proved worthy of her crown at her debut concert at Hong Kong Coliseum. Sherry Cheng Huei-mei swept the audience of 10,000 off their feet with an energetic rendition of her all-time favourites at the concert organised by Commercial Radio's Ultimate 903. She kicked off the show with her hit Bad Boy, packed with hot dance routines and soulful vocals. Known to her fans as 'A-mei', Cheng was fuelled by the sheer enthusiasm of the crowd to give a gem of a performance. Capable of a wide variety of styles, Cheng drove home her vocal versatility in her beautiful, crystal-clear voice. Cutting a striking figure in a glamorous selection of wardrobe changes, Cheng, worked her way through popular numbers such as Stand On A High Position, Sisters, Nothing You Want, Listen To The Sea, My Non-Smoking Days, and the smash hit from the film Titanic, My Heart Will Go On. Tears welled in Cheng's eyes when she sang My Non-Smoking Days, which was written and produced by her friend and fellow-Taiwanese, Chang Yu-sheng, who died of an illness last year. Her ultimate song, Don't Want Farewell , sent the audience to their feet in a frenzy of dancing and thunderous applause. And the fans begged for more, with enthusiastic encore after encore holding the pop diva captive onstage. Commercial Radio seems to be sticking to its word that it will deliver on its promises. Shows of such high quality prove it is really delivering the goods.
