The South China Morning Post and Sunday Morning Post yesterday won two major newspaper awards to add to a series of other prizes in recent weeks. The daily newspaper took top place for design in the Asian Newspaper Awards announced at the ANPE-IFRA annual conference in Kuala Lumpur. Giving the prize, Albert de Brujin, sales and marketing manager of Cybergraphics System, which sponsored the award, spoke of the newspaper's 'continual search for excellence'. Postmagazine, the Sunday newspaper magazine, took the top award for magazine or supplements, sponsored by the Idab Wamac mailroom system manufacturer. The awards, organised by Asian Newspaper Focus magazine, named Apple Daily Asian newspaper of the year and Premier Printing Group of Hong Kong printer of the year. Last week, the Newspaper Society gave eight of 10 awards in its English-language section to the Post, including the year's best story. In February, Post photographers snapped up six prizes from the Hong Kong Press Photographers' Association.
