The number of complaints against police officers for neglecting their duties more than doubled last month over the same period last year.
The Complaints Against Police Office's (CAPO) Senior Superintendent, Paul Hung Hak-wai, said they would look into the reasons behind the sharp rise.
The latest figures were released in the joint Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) and CAPO meeting, first opened to the public yesterday.
Police received 239 complaints last month, compared with 197 in February 1997.
The sharpest rise was seen in complaints against officers for neglecting duties - from 29 cases to 67.
The increase has seen neglect of duty become the largest category complaint.
The number of complaints against the manner of officers rose from 45 in February last year to 53 last month.
