An inquiry has been launched into allegations that a court clerk opened the doors on a confidential hearing allowing 'sensitive material' to reach the press.
A convicted drug trafficker claims the confidential information appeared in three Chinese-language papers and 'made things difficult in prison', the Court of Appeal heard yesterday.
'Because I am under protection, I spend 23 hours a day in a solitary cell,' the 40-year-old inmate said.
'I cannot participate in activities such as watching television or playing ball.' The trafficker argued his sentence should be reduced to reflect the added hardship.
'Isolation is a form of punishment,' he said.
On September 29, Madam Justice Clare-Marie Beeson heard his mitigation behind closed doors.
