Hong Kong people take pride in the high standards of our service industries. As competition becomes stronger both regionally and internationally, we need to set more ambitious goals to maintain our leading position.
The only solution is to upgrade our standard to create more value-added services. To achieve this, the Government will provide a business-friendly environment to enable the services sector to continue to flourish.
The Hong Kong Awards for Services scheme is a fine example of the strong support provided by the Government and the business community for the promotion of services. I hope that service providers will actively take part in this competition.
I am confident that, with the joint efforts of the Government and the business community, Hong Kong's name will continue to be associated with high standards and good-quality services.
