There are fears only 20 per cent of eligible voters in the legal profession will cast their ballots in the Election Committee subsector elections today.
One solicitor said many lawyers might not have time to vote at the Queensway polling station, the only one for the 3,558 voters.
He said many law firms were situated in Tsim Sha Tsui, Mongkok, Causeway Bay, Sha Tin, Yuen Long and Tuen Mun.
To boost the turnout, 20 candidates from the legal subsector announced yesterday that they would run a free open-top double decker to transport voters from Central to Queensway from 9 am to 10 pm.
The 20 hopefuls are urging voters to elect them en bloc to fill the 20 seats in the legal subsector. Among them, 15 are council members of the Law Society.
Only three barristers are contesting seats in the legal subsector elections - Cheng Huan, senior counsel Alan Hoo and Liao Cheung-sing.
