Next month three acclaimed musicians will join forces with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra to present Ode to Rivers . Ode to Rivers , a musical voyage which leads the audience through the rivers of China, will be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on April 17 and 18. Piano virtuoso Kong Xiangdong will play The Yellow River Piano Concerto ; maestro Barbara Fei will give a poetic recitation on Sketches of Hong Kong Suite , and China's first Golden Disc Awards winner, He Jiguang, will sing several Hunan folk tunes. Kong Xiangdong was the youngest winner in both Moscow's 1986 Tchaikovsky International Competition and Spain's 1987 Santander International Competition. Local maestro Barbara Fei founded the Allegro Singers in 1964 and is presently its Director and Conductor. He Jiguang, a native of Hunan, has been an active and popular figure on the music scene for more than 40 years. Tickets ($55-$105) are available at Urbtix outlets.
