Police are investigating allegations that officers were involved in a loanshark syndicate.
New Territories North deputy regional commander Chief Superintendent Cheung Chi-shum confirmed yesterday that some officers from the district were alleged to be linked to a syndicate.
'We started looking into the allegations a few months ago,' Mr Cheung said.
'Loansharking is just one of the aspects we are looking at. There are other complaints.
'No officers have been suspended, but any complaints against police officers will be seriously investigated.' Mr Cheung declined to elaborate on the extent of officers' alleged involvement.
One accusation is that some officers were acting as bankers for a loanshark syndicate to lend money to people outside the force through an agent.
