Griffin Shipping Holdings, a subsidiary of South African shipping and freight transport group Grindrod Unicorn Group (Grincor), has relocated from Hong Kong to the Isle of Man. Technical management of the fleet was transferred to Grincor's ship management division in Durban on March 1. John Sunley retired as managing director of Griffin, which is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, on March 31, having been based in Hong Kong since 1991. New chief executive Alan Olivier also will head Grincor's new shipowning division, which incorporates Griffin, Unicorn Tankers and fleet management. 'Apart from substantial cost savings, both Griffin and Unicorn will benefit from the transfer of skills between the two organisations,' he said.
