The quarter-page advertisement for the Hong Kong International Film Festival (South China Morning Post, April 3) contained four still-shots from two films shown on the opening night of the festival.

 Three of the four scenes were graphic depictions of personal violence. Is this really the image that the Provisional Urban Council wishes to project of the Hong Kong film industry? It certainly deterred me from attending.
