Santander Group has hired HSBC Holdings' Colin Bamford to head its operations in the region. Previously, Mr Bamford was senior executive vice-president at HSBC Americas, based in New York. Santander said Mr Bamford had also held senior positions in Hong Kong, Japan and Southeast Asia. He would report to Emilio Saracho, Banco Santander's executive vice-president in Madrid, it said. The new position replaces the group's post of regional co-ordinator, held by Ho Teck Cheong, who will be in charge of the Singapore office.
