East Asia Aetna Insurance plans to launch a female insurance product in Hong Kong that targets women three months pregnant. The product will be the latest in a number of female insurance products unveiled this year by AIA, National Mutual and CMG Asia Life Assurance. AIA and National Mutual launched life insurance policies tailor-made for women, featuring savings plans and medical and pregnancy coverage, while CMG's is a medical insurance product. East Asia Aetna Insurance Group chief executive and managing director Patrick Poon Sun-cheong said the insurer already had a product in Taiwan for pregnant women that had been well received. The product will provide benefits for mothers and their babies, including the medical expense of the birth and expense relating to babies born with a disease or disability. Mr Poon says the launch of such products in Hong Kong reflected the growing sophistication of the insurance market, and he expected more of them.
