Tim Hamlett has got it wrong by labelling me a 'single-issue fanatic' on tobacco (South China Morning Post, April 9).
I have written articles and books on myriad issues from warfare to tooth problems.
It might interest Mr Hamlett to know that I am more interested in sex these days, as I am currently researching and writing an atlas on the subject.
Tobacco is hardly mentioned, except to recognise in passing its effect on sex hormones, fertility, and sexual performance (doubling the rate of impotence, male smokers note).
I now await with trepidation being labelled a 'sex fanatic' by Mr Hamlett! The real problem with tobacco is the opposite - there are fewer than 10 people working full-time on tobacco control for the entire Asia-Pacific region, which houses about half the world's smokers.
I cannot think of one who is a fanatic.
