Kodak claims its new Digital Science Scanner 3500 minimises paper jams and time-consuming document resorting. The 3500 has a one-button operation and a document feeding tray that accepts a wide range of mixed, unseparated paper. It scans up to 75 A4-sized documents a minute at high resolution. The duplex model, which scans two-sided documents, costs $260,000, while the single-side scanner costs $237,000.
Palmax has released the Palm PC, a Windows CE-based handheld computer. The 60 MHz Palm PC has 2 MB Ram expandable to 10 MB, infrared transmission port, handwriting recognition, and built-in microphone and speaker. It weighs 184 grams and is powered by two AAA alkaline batteries or one rechargeable Ni-MH AAA battery. Data can be input by on-screen keyboard or stylus, while e-mail can be received and sent by plugging in a modem into the compact flash card slot. It is priced at US$350.
Eizo has introduced its FlexScan L34, a space-saving, energy-efficient LCD monitor. The 15 inch TFT colour monitor features ScreenManager with animated icons for easy function adjustment, and PowerManager to conserve power consumption. The L34 is priced at $20,000.
