Online distance learning, home entertainment in the form of video games, and karaoke and financial information to offices are only some of the services Richard Li Tzar-kai plans to provide to the information-hungry all across Asia.

For this he has formed Pacific Convergence Corp, a joint venture with Intel Corp, the world's largest manufacturer of microprocessors. The deal was announced last month with the Richard Li-controlled Pacific Century Group owning 60 per cent of the joint venture.

The deal marks his return to the communications sector after assuming a relatively low profile since he sold STAR TV to Rupert Murdoch's News Corp for US$950 million (HK$7.35 billion).

Considered the most eligible bachelor in Hong Kong, I am told that Richard uses the Internet often and sends e-mail by himself, even though he is selective about whom he gives his eletronic address to.
