Autonomy being undermined

It appears that Hong Kong democrats and mainland dissidents share many confusions and contradictions.

They appear to be spoiled and petulant and show disrespect for the spirit of the law, wanting to have their cake and eat it.

They appear to feel that they are above the law and that the ends of democracy justify the means, thus the arrest of Wang Bingzhang in the US for allegedly using a forged passport. Does he have no respect for the law? These dissidents are trying to influence Hong Kong people to behave like them and impose their mixed-up political ideas on China.

Our local rebels are not much better, if superficially more slick.

One minute they insist on their separateness under the 'two systems'. Next, they declare their right to intervene in the political movement in China's system. Surely the SAR's autonomy rests on the principle of mutual exclusion and non-interference between the two systems, the famous metaphor of 'well water not mixing with river water'.

The democrats' Alliance in Support of the Patriotic Democratic Movement in China is well water mixing with river water, with Hong Kong's system intruding into the mainland's, thus undermining Hong Kong's basis of autonomy which these democrats are actually sacrificing. It is not just about political beliefs, but the actions to impose these changes on China's system that cannot be accepted.
